How do I know and what should I do if I am a victim of identity theft/fraud?

What can I do to avoid fraud?

Identity theft is a serious crime where your personal information-anything from your name, driver’s license, or Social Insurance Number-has been used by a stranger who pretends to be yourself to commit the crime.

Identity theft/fraud is a major problem, and it happens more often than you might think. There are several simple things you can do to reduce your chances of becoming a victim.
