Servers and kitchen staff at a newly-opened Langley restaurant donated their first week’s tips to a Langley food bank – a total of $6,000.
Brodeur’s Bistro recently completed a move from Abbotsford to a new location in Langley’s Willoughby neighbourhood, at 204 Street and 86 Avenue.
The restaurant opened officially on Tuesday, Aug. 6, said general manager Dustin Haffner, but the week before that, the restaurant had a “dress rehearsal” opening to give the kitchen and front-of-house staff a run through.
That event, which ran from July 31 to Aug. 3, saw invited patrons come in and have their meals for free.
But Haffner noted that people, especially people getting their dinner on the house, wanted to leave a tip for the servers and chefs.
The staff collectively decided to donate the tips collected during the dress rehearsal.
“As we’re helping to feed people, so is the Langley Food Bank helping to feed people,” said Haffner.
